Lectures

Tracey Lawko speaking at Homer Watson House & Gallery

Tracey offers stimulating lectures for groups of all sizes interested in creativity. These inspiring 60-minute slide lectures are packed with images of her fibre art, quilts and embroidery. She is comfortable speaking to small groups as well as groups of 500 or more.

You choose the format. Tracey is delighted to present in-person or virtually and she is happy to answer questions.

For in person presentations, Tracey brings samples of her work for participants to see up close. To assist group organizers, Tracey provides her own computer and digital projector. The meeting room should have dimmable lights, projection screen, microphone, extension cord, and display tables.

Sources of Inspiration

Tracey reveals how her textile art has developed – inspired by childhood interests and continual experimentation. Her finely stitched landscapes celebrate the beauty of rural Ontario. Her dimensional still-lifes combine modern longarm stitching with traditional hand embroidery. As Tracey presents her journey from hand embroidery to quilting to fibre art, she invites participants to consider their own Sources of Inspiration.

One Stitch at a Time

How do you DO that? How long does it take? Why textiles? Repeatedly asked these questions, Tracey walks participants through the answers. Focusing on her representational fibre art, Tracey shares her process for creating her very detailed and realistic artworks.
